Show#1 Getting Ready |
Pull up a chair as our boys get ready for that first big ride of the season. Marc helps Alan diagnose his bike's hard-starting problem, and when he joins us (IF he joins us), Alan shares some tips for pre-season bike handling drills. Muscle memory and a solid skills base pay off when you least expect it (and most need it). Dr. Dave gets us into shape physically, and shares a few funny stories from behind the scenes at the AMA races in Daytona, too. So throw your jacket on the hook and order up a slice of pie and some coffee. Just a note of warning -- Marc wolfed down the last of the Gefilte Fish, so if you had a hankering, you'll have to wait until next time. Sorry. Oh, and offer him a breath mint if you've got a spare. The rest of us will thank you for it. |

New show
Mon, 04/16/2007 - 7:46pm — AnonymousI liked it. The pace was a little slow in the beginning and the transitions with the waitress were a little corny, but all in all I liked it. As with anything new it takes awhile to get into the groove of the thing. Keep the technical stuff coming. The tip on carving tennis balls in half for pylons was helpful. Also the torso exercises and flexibility tips are great. I have a tendency to cramp up in my quads on rides over 200 miles, so that was timely information. If you can incorporate anything about track days into your banter, that would be cool. I'm always looking for new riding gear with good body armour built in that works well in hot summer days. Maybe you could talk about what's new to wear. The bottom line is that it's a great idea you have with this format. Keep up the good work. Oh, and, I'm not familiar with Gefilte Fish, but if it's anything like the Kim Chee we get over here in the islands, that can produce some nasty belches that are very unpleasant inside your helmet. Good show guys
Mon, 04/16/2007 - 9:15pm — AnonymousDr. Dave thanks for the awesome ideas on getting in shape as well as staying in shape over the season and after it. The rest of the inputs were real good minus the fact that they sound way too scripted. Especially the ordering of the food and the audio right around that time when the sandwich was ordered. Great content, just sounds like you are reading an excerpt (sp?) of a book and not actually meeting up in a cafe and having a roundtable type discussion. Keep it coming guys. Congrats

Background noise and bad microphones
Thu, 04/19/2007 - 9:09am — AnonymousThere are no words in my vocabulary to describe how annoying the background noise is on this podcast. You all have had months to get prepared and this is the best you can do? OH, and please, please, please, please buy yourselves some decent microphones, jeez...................
Corny is right
Thu, 04/26/2007 - 4:20pm — AnonymousThe whole Cafe shtick is pretty lame and the background noise made it very hard to hear. I couldn't even make it though the whole episode.

Good for bike junkies
Fri, 04/27/2007 - 1:54pm — AnonymousI'm halfway through the first episode. I spend $20 more per month for digital cable just so I can have the Speed Channel! Motorcycle radio? This is the closest thing I've found. I'm big on motorcycle-focused audio books (as well as westerns).
Can't wait to hear the rest of episode 1. As far as the criticisms, have you ever seen the first Seinfeld episode??? The only way to go is up. Keep the episodes coming...

Liked it
Sat, 04/28/2007 - 6:15am — AnonymousGot to agree that the "cafe" aspect was a little hokie, but hey, everybody has their own shtick, right? I thought the tips were great - looking forward to the next episode.

Fun Show
Tue, 05/01/2007 - 9:10am — AnonymousI loved the diner/cafe theme. Don't listen to these other curmudgeons; keep it. Maybe turn down the cafe sound effects a hair during your segments but definitely keep them, the waitress interactions, everything. Otherwise, frankly, it'll be just another dime-a-dozen boring talk show. The hour-long podcast just evaporated before I knew it. The whole show had a really fun atmosphere and it was plain that you guys were truly enjoying yourselves. That, more than anything, is what made the podcast so easy to listen to.
The content was also informative and interesting, although the bit about helpful exercises got a little dull. And when you mention motorcycle racing personalities, as prominent as they may be, please don't assume I know who you're talking about.
Topics I'd love to hear covered: reviews of bikes - new and old, reviews of those $1000 products in the Areostich catalog I'll never be able to justify buying, tools you wouldn't leave home without or stories of the times you disastrously forgot them, etc.
You guys should cover this event: www.lakeerieloop.com - check it out.
I'm looking forward to episode 2. Keep up the good work.
background noise
Thu, 05/03/2007 - 8:34am — AnonymousI think the background noise was supposed to be there, for effect.
I loved the show!
Thu, 05/03/2007 - 8:36pm — AnonymousThis is to date my favorite motorcycle podcast. I liked the cafe' theme. I didn't mind the background dinner noise. I am truly looking forward to the next episode.
Thanks,

just stop it!!
Fri, 05/04/2007 - 7:46am — Anonymousbased on the positive comments about content, i will try to tough it out and hear what you have to say. but after the show zero and the first ten minutes of show one, i find the lame acting and phony atmosphere to be annoying as hell. please drop the pretense and just say what you have to say.

Sat, 05/12/2007 - 10:57am — nateThanks first off to everyone who's listened to the show so far!! Extra thanks to those of you who've provided feedback -- we appreciate both the positive feedback (it's nice to know someone's appreciated what you've done), AND the constructive feedback. As many have noted, this show is still in its early days and we hope to build on things episode by episode. The Cafe "theme" is here to stay, but we'll work hard to make it as seamless as possible. (Just imagine yourself sitting at the booth next to us!!)

Where is the show?
Tue, 03/18/2008 - 12:29pm — AnonymousIs it just me or has the show stopped? I really enjoyed the show and miss listening to it. I also like the background noise as it adds personality to the whole thing. Keep up the good work lads!
